Dr. Jashbir Singh

Dr. Singh received his M.S. in Organic Chemistry from Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla, India. Dr. Singh has over three years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry. He then worked as a senior research fellow at the Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi, India. In 2014, he received his PhD in Chemistry focusing on nutraceuticals from Gurukula Kangri University, Haridwar, India. Dr. Singh’s work has focused on purification and characterization of health benefitting compounds from fruits and vegetables. He has developed various analytical methods for anthocyanins, carotenoids, flavonoids, glucosinolates and volatiles using LC, LC-HR-QTOF-MS and GC-MS. He also has experience in development of pectin based hydrogels for the sustained release of drugs. In 2013 he received the Young Scientist Award at the National Conference on Greener Technologies for Detection and Treatment of Pharmaceuticals, Gwalior, India. He also received Aryabhatta Samman by Vigyan Bharti (Swadeshi Science Movement of India), New Delhi for his best paper presentation. He has been working as a postdoctoral research associate at the Vegetable and Fruit Improvement Center, Horticultural Sciences, Texas A&M University since 2014.
